Who are we?
Silba – Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy is a non-partisan and non-profit youth organisation which aims to strengthen democratic institutions and organisations. Founded in 1994, we organize local and international activities, with a main focus on election observation missions.
We do this to further our aims, which are:
1) To promote dialogue and establish ties between East and West in Europe.
2) To support democratic participation and the strengthening of civil liberties throughout civil society.
3) To convey a nuanced picture in our members' home countries of the countries in Silba’s focus area.
In Denmark, our six local branches in Aalborg, Aarhus, Odense (Fyn), Sønderborg, Roskilde and Copenhagen organize lectures, social events and other activities about our area of interest.
As a member of Silba, you can attend a variety of academic and social activities in the local branches. You can find more information about your local branch under "Silba in Denmark".
Internationally, Silba organises Election Observation Missions several times a year. As a member of Silba you have the possibility of being an international election observer. Since 2003 Silba has completed 51 EOMs in 17 countries. Furthermore, Silba offer you the possibility of attending international seminars and projects about key issues of area of interest.
