WHEN: The first round of elections is set to be on the 22nd of December. The program will run from December 17 - Dec 22, where Dec 16th will be arrival day and Dec 23rd will be the departure date.
Silba is recruiting observers for the Presidential Election in Croatia.
If you are a Game of Thrones fan, have an appetite for Mediterranean cuisine, follow World Cup championships or enjoy the coastal havens, you will have heard of Croatia. A country with roots in socialist Yugoslavia and its recent history of civil wars is becoming a top tourist destination for people around the world. Now in the next Presidential election incumbent Grabar Kitarovic seeks to secure her second term though the famous singer Miroslav Skoro has announced their candidacy. Not the first or seemingly last time a celebrity has announced their intention to run for president! Do you want to be in the thick of this election and experience democracy developing in a nation that is also the most recent one to join the EU? Are you interested in democracy and how an election works in practice? Then join Silba’s EOM to Croatia!

Are between 18 and 35 years old

Are available from: Dec 17 - Dec 22
You must pass the free OSCE E-Learning course “Comprehensive Course for OSCE/ODIHR Observers” before the EOM begins. You need only to focus on the short-term observation part of the course. If you have completed the course during the last year, it is not a necessity that you complete it again. The course can be found here.
It is not a requirement that you have previous experience in monitoring elections. However, knowledge of the country or region is highly valued.
The participation fee for this EOM is 250 euros. This covers accommodation, food and other expenses during the program. In addition, you will have to pay for your travel expenses (including eventual visa costs) to Croatia.
We would like to note that all our activities are non-profit, which means all the money will go to covering the cost for you as a participant!
NB: Silba reserves the right to cancel the EOM in case of safety issues at any time. Silba's safety assesment is based on open-source information and the Danish foreign ministry's travel advice. Silba will not send observers to unsafe areas.
